You are not sick, you are thirsty!

When we feel over stressed or under the weather, many of us immediately reach for the nearest medication to remedy or mask the feeling.  However if we really listen to our bodies,  the answer may just be a glass of water.  I remember growing up in the 70's and 80's (yes I was from that era!) and getting hold of a book called Water: The Cure.  I recall reading something like if you have a fever, drink lots of water, or if you have a sudden attack of allergy or heartburn to reach for a glass of water.  Many of us have read that doctors always advocate to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day.  I no longer cannot find that book but I am glad to come across another reputable doctor who advocates WATER THERAPY.  His name is Dr.
Fereydoon Batmanghelidj  or popularly known as Dr. Batman.

This is from his website.  www.watercure.com
Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, M.D., an internationally renowned researcher, author and advocate of the natural healing power of water, was born in Iran in 1931. He attended Fettes College in Scotland and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School of London University, where he studied under Sir Alexander Fleming, who shared the Nobel Prize for the discovery of penicillin.

He was imprisoned in Iran and there he was able to treat prisoners with Peptic Ulcers with just water.  He was able to treat 3,000 prisoners with this alone.  I guess there were a lot of prisoners and very little food available so they were all suffering from Peptic Ulcers.  Dr. Batman probably did not have any access to any western medication and water was the only thing available.  He noted that the patient felt better after 2 hours of taking 2 glasses of water.  The prisoner then took 2 glasses of water every 3 hours and became pain free after 4 months of this continuous water therapy.  The reports of his findings was documented in THE JOURNAL OF CLINICAL GASTROENTEROLOGY in June 1983.
In 1992, he wrote a book entitled "Your Body's Many Cries for Water".  Here he stated that the presence of a dry mouth is not a reliable indicator of dehydration.  The website shares that "the body signals its water shortage by producing pain. Dehydration actually produces pain and many degenerative diseases, including asthma, arthritis, hypertension, angina, adult-onset diabetes, lupus and multiple sclerosis. Dr. B’s message to the world is, “You are not sick, you are thirsty. Don’t treat thirst with medication.”

That is just mind blowing.  In his website he talks about what kind of water one should be drinking.

"WHAT ABOUT FILTER AND FILTERED WATER?

It is always wise to get a filter if you are not sure how safe your tap water is.
There are many water filter products on the market at many different prices. To shop for a good filter, you need to know what a filter factually reduces, or removes, and what it costs. Ideally, you want water that has been filtered via a reverse osmosis process that removes chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, chlorine, fluoride, bacteria, and viruses."
So now I am sick and down with the pink eye and developing a bug in my throat.  Do I reach for an antibiotic?  No.  I just increase my intake of Crystal Clear Water and gargled with a saline solution.  It is now the 3rd day and I am feeling much better.
